putt 360 putter game

Now as every golfer knows, the most important rule of golf is to return the face of the club back to the golf ball squarely facing our intended target at the point of impact.

golf putting tipI see players spending hours trying to work on this, with little success!! WHY? They all miss out the most basic of all fundaments, which is Alignment.

The exercise I have set out for you is a very simple one, but you should reap the rewards very quickly.

Find a straight putt on your putting green or use your putt360 on the carpet. From there create a channel either side of the hole that is just a little wider than your putter head (I recommend that you use your two longest irons for this) Place your ball between this channel. You have now created a guide to help with putter face alignment.

Now to help with shoulder and forearm alignment: Place the shaft of a club just above and behind your elbows, gripping it against your chest as you can see in the picture below.

Now line this shaft up so it is parallel to the shafts on the ground at our address (as in Picture One) You are now in a position where the alignment of your putter face is square to your target, with your arms and shoulders married up with this. What you do next is create a motion from your shoulders and arms whereby you keep the shaft against your chest parallel to the shafts on the ground as you make a smooth pendulum style motion.

By doing this you are now making a stroke with very few variables so you will be tackling the course with a much simpler putting stroke. Good Luck!

Quality of practice and not Quantity of practice breeds winners”
